James "Jimmy" Lewis was a United States bassist who worked with the Count Basie Orchestra and sextet in the 1950s and performed with Duke Ellington, Cootie Williams, Billie Holiday and Ivory Joe Hunter before moving to electric bass during his tenure with King Curtis and later provided the basslines for the musical ''Hair''.
